Running While Traveling Across the United States

Starting Again

It’s been too long since I’ve posted an update here or even thought about running to be honest. That needs to change. Between work, injuries, life, and just laziness I didn’t do much in 2017. It’s time to start all over again, because I’m out of shape.

I’m not much of a resolution guy, but 2018’s goal will be to get back on track with running and eating a proper diet. Let’s get a bit of a head start on that with some walking, run-walking and running here to end 2017 and then let’s see how we do to end the year.

As recommended to keep myself accountable, I’ll sign up for some races so you’ll see them pop up on the calendar. Not much more to say beyond that right now. Let’s get started and I’ll post as we go along.

Running Washington in January

I officially signed up for a new state race this coming January 30th in Issaquah, Washington. I’ll be in Seattle for work the week prior, so I went ahead and took the opportunity to spend an extra night and hit a half of a half marathon (6.55 mi) trail run called the Blast from the Past race at Taylor Mountain.

Outside of treadmills in my hotel or a few runs around Pike Place market, I’ve never run outside of the city of Seattle. I love trail runs and I’m really looking forward to kicking off the new year with a new state right off the bat.

The pictures of the single track for this race look awesome and the race description promises nice views of Mt. Rainier. I know this one will be a little more scenic than my neighborhood runs in Georgia.

I’ll be sure to take some pictures and video and post them along with a race review after I’m done.

Multi-State Road Races

It’s nice to think that I could kill a few birds with one stone in a few races along the way towards my fifty state goals. I’ll maintain a list here of the ones I’m aware of so others can benefit. If you know of others, please let me know and I’ll add it here.
